Reservoir Engineer Core Duties and Qualifications

In oil and gas industry, the main responsibility of the Reservoir Engineer is to evaluate and perform discovery of the reservoirs from the underground formations. This involves analysis of reservoir behaviour, determination of reserves and identification of the appropriate method of operating the reservoir for improving production and maintaining physical and geological characteristics.
This role is regarding the evaluation of reservoir performance, as well as reserves calculation and the development of efficient extraction methods that not only maximize production but also maintain the reservoirs in good condition.

  • Compile reports and presentations on their reservoir status, production forecasts, and optimization strategies.
  • Remain aware of the latest technologies and standards related to reservoir process.

Qualifications And Certifications

  • Required bachelor’s degree or equivalent in:
    • Petroleum engineering
    • Chemical engineering
    • Geology
    • Related field
  • Master’s degree in Petroleum, Geology or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Professional certifications of Certified Petroleum Engineer (CPE), Certified Reservoir Engineer (CRE), Project Management Professional (PMP), and others are suggested.
