Marine Superintendent Core Duties and Qualifications
A Marine Superintendent is that official of the shipping company who is responsible for keeping the vessels in the fleet safe, economical and legal. Qualifications And Certifications

- Required bachelor’s degree or equivalent in:
- Marine engineering
- Nautical science
- Naval architecture
- Mechanical engineering
- Related field
- Master’s degree in nautical science, marine engineering, or related field.
- Chief engineer license issued by national maritime authority.
- Professional certifications of Certified Marine Engineer (CME), Chartered Marine Engineer (CMarEng), and others are suggested.

- 5 – 10 years of prior professional experience at sea in roles like marine engineer, chief engineer, marine superintendent, or related roles.

- Knowledge of international marine regulations such as SOLAS, MARPOL, and ISM Code.
- Expertise in maritime communication systems and protocols.
