UAE Overtime Calculator 2025 — Article 19 UAE Labour Law

UAE Overtime Rules 2025 — Article 19, Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021

UAE overtime is governed by Article 19 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021. Standard working hours are 8 hours/day and 48 hours/week. Work beyond these limits qualifies for overtime pay at legally prescribed rates.

The Formula

Hourly rate: Monthly salary ÷ 30 ÷ 8
Standard OT: Hourly rate × 1.25 × OT hours
Night OT (9PM–4AM): Hourly rate × 1.50 × OT hours
Rest day OT: Hourly rate × 1.50 × hours worked

Worked Example

Employee: AED 9,000 basic salary, 3 hrs standard OT + 2 hrs night OT:
Hourly rate: AED 9,000 ÷ 30 ÷ 8 = AED 37.50/hour
Standard OT: AED 37.50 × 1.25 × 3 = AED 140.63
Night OT: AED 37.50 × 1.50 × 2 = AED 112.50
Total OT pay: AED 253.13

Key rules: OT calculated on basic salary only. Max 2 hours OT/day. During Ramadan: 6 hours/day standard — OT starts after 6 hrs. Senior management may be exempt under Article 19.
