Architect Core Duties and Qualifications

Several successful construction companies are therefore in search of a well qualified and most artistic Architect who will be able to design and construct functional, aesthetic and attractive structures and environments. The job holder will be responsible for managing a portfolio from the initial design phase, through construction and ultimately delivery to the client, whilst maintaining the necessary technical standards as well as client’s expectations in terms of design.

This position entails effective communication with clients to develop blueprints from client requirements and must incorporate artistic freedom with important engineering standards within time and cost limits as well as the project’s requirements.

This role demands a balance of creative vision and technical expertise, as well as strong leadership and project management skills. Following are the duties for an architect:

Be in charge of the undertaking right from the conceptual phase to the construction phase.
Consult with clients to identify needs in the project for an appropriate solution.
Conduct site analysis and study related cases.
Develop and design detailed architectural drawings including plans, elevations, sections, etc.
Check that the design meets the code provisions of construction, zoning laws, and other safety requirements.
Work with engineers, contractors, and other internal teams regarding project matters of execution.
Monitor the whole design process to make sure the fulfillment of design standards.
Stay up-to-date with trends, materials, software, and approaches related to construction.

Qualifications And Certifications

To be qualified architect following are the educational requirements and additional certifications:

Professional degree in architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch).
Licensed architect (RA) or eligible for license with the registration of Society Of Engineers – UAE or a similar professional body.
Foreign degrees have to be attested by the UAE’s Ministry of Education.
Proven portfolio of completed projects.
Professional certifications of BIM, RIBA, LEED AP would add a meaning to a candidate’s profile.
